Mar Hershenson
After earning a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, I developed a groundbreaking method for optimizing analog semiconductor design. Since then, I’ve co-founded three startups across the mobile/e-commerce, enterprise software, and semiconductor industries, accumulating over 13 years of founder experience and holding 14 patents. As Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Pear, I bring deep operational and technical expertise to support our investment team and portfolio founders. I’m passionate about education and currently teach Stanford’s flagship entrepreneurship course, “Lean LaunchPad.” Prior to that, I spent nearly a decade as a lecturer at Stanford, where I taught an introductory course on analog circuit design. I actively contribute to the academic and startup communities, serving on the Board of Trustees at Harvey Mudd College and on the Advisory Board of Carnegie Mellon University’s Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. I’m also the founder of the Equity Summit, a major conference connecting venture capital GPs and LPs from underrepresented minorities, and an early founding member of All Raise. Based in the Bay Area with my husband Matt and our three children, I continue to advocate for innovation and equity in tech. I’ve been recognized as one of MIT Technology Review’s “Top Innovators Under 35,” a Fast Company “Champion of Innovation,” and a recipient of the Marie R. Pistil Achievement Award at the Digital Automation Conference. I’ve been consistently named to the Forbes Midas List from 2021 to 2024.
