Hiro Hasegawa

Hiro has founded two startups in the food tech space. Most recently, he launched Ramen Hero, a San Francisco–based food startup offering restaurant-quality ramen kits. The company launched in California in 2017 and expanded nationwide by 2019, delivering to customers in over 15,000 cities across 48 states. In 2020, People magazine named Ramen Hero one of its “Food Favorite 50.” He raised approximately $9 million in total funding from Japanese and U.S. VCs and angel investors, including the U.S. accelerator AngelPad, known for its early investment in Postmates (acquired by Uber for $2.65B). Currently based in the Bay Area, he serves as a Venture Partner at a food-tech-focused VC firm, investing in food and agri-tech startups around the world, primarily in the U.S. He also supports portfolio companies in expanding into the Japanese market, leveraging his deep understanding of Japan’s unique consumer behavior and market dynamics.
